Team effort: A trio of crane experts work together as Rena recovery continues.

Smith Cranes was engaged earlier this month by Pollock Cranes to supply a solution to erect the boom of the RMG500 recovery crane.

The Resolve Marine 350-tonne heavy-lift shear leg barge crane (RMG500) has been brought in to recover sections of the sunken Rena.

The RMG500 boom weighed in at 175-tonne and measured 50m long.

Smith Cranes supplied the Liebherr LR1280 (280-tonne) crane to assist with the job.

Smith Cranes also supplied the lifting gear and 130-tonne SWL tandem lift beam, along with a remote angle sensor to ensure the cranes' weight did not transfer during the lift.
