20 December 2012Railway bridge replacement at Mercer
Smith Civil Engineering replaced Kiwirail's Bridge 299 and Bridge 300 on the Main Trunk Line late last year at a site just north of Mercer.
The works were completed on-time within a 48-hour window-of-opportunity and bringing new meaning to the expression 'all hands on deck!'.
Smith Cranes brought in its Liebherr LG1550 and Grove 6300L cranes to lift in the new TRADEX deck constructed with long-lasting weathering steel to replace the existing timber trestle structures.
