This project involved the removal and renewal of approximately 60 gabian baskets. The construction of the baskets had to be undertaken in small stages to maintain a safe workplace as the road behind the existing gabians was badly damaged due to the earthquake.
During the construction process a number of services had to be realigned due to being very shallow behind the wall or being held within a duct on the front face of the existing baskets.
As the road was extensively damaged it also had to be removed, not something that Smith Crane and Construction is known for, the road was cut back and relayed without hitch.
